The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported Thursday that it has lost all contact with its staff in Gaza following a total communications blackout across the enclave. The agency noted that, for the first time in months, it did not receive routine morning check-ins from its staff.
Local contacts inside Gaza have confirmed to us that all forms of communication, including internet and phone services, remain down, further complicating coordination of humanitarian operations. The blackout now extends to the southern and central areas of the Strip, joining Gaza City and the north, where services have already been down, marking the second consecutive day of full disruption.
The Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority claims that services were disrupted following Israeli airstrikes targeting telecom infrastructure. The authority stated that these attacks have systematically damaged key communication networks, hindering restoration efforts despite multiple repair attempts and alternative routing.
